Recently I’ve been on a Relient K kick again and decided to pull out my old CDs and listen to Five Score and Seven Years Ago on the way home. This song came on, and I started to sob grossly for some unknown reason. Really, there are very few songs that can drive me to tears, but this one manages to do it almost every time. I think in essence, it describes what being a Christian is really about. No matter how screwed up you are or what you’ve done, some still loves you, and I think that’s what it’s all about.
A bit of an Update….
After June 14th, I’ll probably be on a lot. I’ll be getting surgery on my hip on that day to fix a piece of torn cartilage in it, and I may or may not be on crutches for up to six weeks following it. It’s kind of a diagnostic surgery because they’re not exactly sure what they’ll need to do to fix it, but I’ll find out after I wake up. It’s only an out-patient thing, so I’ll be back the day of, but I’ll probably sleepy as all heck. ;v; I just hope everything goes well.
When I was in preschool there was this really weird system of time-out where they’d put you in this giant plastic bucket sort of like this one:
And the rule was you couldn’t leave the bucket for ten minutes.
In case you didn’t know, I was what the teachers referred to as a “difficult child”…
and people thought gays would ruin the sanctity of marriage.
Can you believe it’s been almost six years since this wonderful man passed away? He was only 44 when that happened. It’s not very often that a person like him comes along. But, I’m just glad that the world got to see his true compassion and kindness towards animals. He will forever be one of my role models. Rest easy, Steve.
